For everyone of us who hates Brussels Sprouts there are a dozen people who can’t get enough of them. For every person out there who hates pineapple on pizza there is someone like me who wants a second slice. It’s the same in business — all the stuff you hate to do is someone else’s reason for getting up in the morning.
The Stuff You Hate is a Business Opportunity for Someone Else
If you hate bookkeeping and organizing your receipts and filing taxes, there is an army of people out there just dying to take all those “wonderful tasks” off your desk because they love to do all those things.
Someone out there hates all the stuff that you absolutely love to do!
The wonderful thing is that the reverse is also true. I know you won’t believe it because you really enjoy working outside in your garden, but there are people living on your very block who despise all the watering and weeding and scrubbing dirt from under their fingernails.
Back before COVID shutdown every blessed event in 2020 I would get invited to be a speaker at association meetings, company sales meetings, etc., and about 80% of the time someone would come up to me and say they could never get up in front of a group of people and deliver a train session of keynote presentation. They hated the idea of being at the front of the room and having to speak — and that’s perfectly fine with me (less competition)!
Find prospects who hate doing the work of the service you sell
Here is a different way of prospecting and qualifying leads for your business: Don’t just look for people who have a need for what you sell, find people who despise having to do that work themselves. If you’re an accountant, find people who hate doing math. If you’re a landscaper, find people who have allergies and can’t stand being outside for very long. If you’re a house cleaner, find people who simply want to come home from a hard day of work to a clean house and not worry about all the work required to clean bathrooms and wash dishes.
